Garmin Oregon 450

I picked this up from REI before I left Vegas.  Didn’t use it (since I didn’t have too much of a clue how to) until I met up with Wojciech again in Portland.  He taught me some basics and we used it from Portland to Seattle and while we were kicking around downtown Seattle.  This was over the course of two and a half days.  In that time I went through three sets of brand new batteries.  After the first set Wojciech checked the settings and confirmed they were on the lower power consumption settings.  Regardless the battery usage was unacceptable.  Back to REI it went.  I have ordered up a Garmin Edge 800.  We’ll see how it compares.

Garmin Edge 800

The Edge is “The” GPS if you happen to be training for….whatever, but since that doesn’t include me I decided to return it and now have the Dakota 20. Once I have some time with it I’ll let you know.

Apple MacBook Air 11″

I really have come to enjoy my Mac.  It does everything my desktop PC does (albiet somewhat differently) and is in a highly portable package.  A netbook doesn’t compare.

GoPro Hero 2

This took unbelievable video…I just never had the time/inclination to edit it….I gave it to my good friend Brett Marshall to fool around with.

Goal Zero Guide 10/Nomad 7 Solar Charger

For the little I’ve used it its been very solid.  It has gotten bumped around a lot and hasn’t missed a beat.  Right now I’ve got more of an issue with my Everready Rechargeable Batteries than anything else.  I’ve got Enloops on the way.

Olympus XZ-1

So far I’m really happy with this rugged little camera.  I’m still learning all its features…hell I may never know them all.

  1. Hey Mike, I found a GPS to be next to useless and a complete waste of weight. With that being said, I stayed entirely in the States for both my tours and settled on a cheap handlebar mounted wireless bike computer which told me how far and how fast only. I didn’t need more than that.

    • Yeah, considering how techno challenged I am I’m not sure how useful it will be to me either, but wtf…I’ll give it a whirl. Besides, maybe Garmin needs a guy in the field down SOB.
